Alina Zagitova is one of the best skaters in the world, performing in the women’s single discipline of figure skating. For the titles that Alina won before adulthood, many athletes strive all their lives. What caused this success: the pursuit of excellence, hard work or good heredity? In the biography of the girl, each of these criteria is placed on the title step of the pedestal.
In the late spring, May 18, 2002, in the large educational and cultural center of the Urals and the Volga region, Izhevsk, the first-born was born into the Zagitov family. Literally a year, the baby lived without a name: parents were so reverent about this issue that they could not come to a common denominator. Until one day they saw the broadcast of the performance of the famous gymnast Alina Kabaeva. Alina is a gentle and melting name on her lips, however the character of the name identifies nature with a firm and unshakable inner core. The parents of the little girl looked at each other and in an instant decided to name their eldest daughter Alina.
Ilnaz Nasikhovich Zagitov, coach of the hockey team, for all his childhood and youth served for his two daughters – the eldest Alina and the younger Sabina – an example of stamina, endurance and the will to win. Following his advice, both girls found themselves in figure skating.
Mom Zagitova Leysan about professional sports all her life only dreamed, more than once trying to get on the ice. She embodied her unfulfilled dreams in children. Thanks to her support and care in the future, a bright star of Alina lit up in the sports horizon.
Many professional athletes recall childhood from an early age as a complete lack of freedom, the suppression of many desires and daily grueling workouts that call for tempering the spirit of the child. Alina Zagitova’s childhood was different. Figure skating on ice for her was the usual weekend entertainment. There was no persuasion and coercion on the part of adults. Starting at the age of five, little Alina threw skates several times, now seriously taking a great interest in drawing, then devoting all her free time to the bench of fans of my father’s hockey team Izhstal. By the age of 7, when Alina’s success on ice became obvious, she, having believed in herself, completely devoted herself to figure skating.
Having started training in 2007 at the Almetyevsk Sports Palace “Yubileiny”, up to 2015, Alina Zagitova trained at the Izhevsk Children’s Sports School. The first trainers – Larisa Gennadevna Sanina and Natalya Alekseevna Antipina – invested in the girl a decent base of knowledge and skills. To this day, they worry about their former pupil, continue to write to her and call up, keeping a finger on the pulse of her sports career.
To further progress in their business, any athlete needs competition. The time has come when Alina became a clear leader in her hometown. Parents made a difficult, but the only right decision – the thirteen-year-old skater moved from the main city of the Udmurt Republic to the capital of Russia. Here, for a young girl, not yet strong in spirit, a series of dramatic events began.
Acquaintance with Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze was a turning point in the fate of Alina. One of the most demanded and popular trainers of the country, to which a line of young talents is literally lining up, having seen talent in Alina, gave her an additional chance when watching her program. Tutberidze did take Alina into her team, but three months later she expelled her from the team. According to the trainer, the girl was not able to change from the teaching system of one trainer to another system. For Tutberidze, it is important when an athlete works exclusively on his own, does not expect reprimands and cries of a mentor.
In this situation, Alina chose to choose a neutral path and, being in the department of the Sambo-70 club in the Moscow branch of Khrustalny, she transferred from Eteri Tutberidze to the group of Anna Vladimirovna Tsareva.
Further events in the girl’s life are immediately clouded by two serious injuries. At first it was a broken arm, with which Alina decided to take part in the Spartakiad. But this decision was a major mistake: the skater also received a fracture of the foot.
Zagitova spent two weeks of strict bed rest in her hometown, she studied again not only to go ice skating, but to walk in general. Parents decided to move their daughter back to Izhevsk, began to say goodbye in Moscow with everyone they knew. Among them was Alina’s former coach Eteri Tutberidze. The mentor suggested the skater another “lifeline” – to try to work together again.
The end of 2017 for the skater Alina Zagitova became especially significant: several titles at once were in the piggy bank of her achievements. This is the awarding of the titles of the champion of Russia and the champion of Europe, according to the data for 2018 and the master of sports of Russia of international class.
