Flip and axel

Flip. Translated from English – “click”. In English it is sometimes called “toe salchow,” that is, “dental salchow,” but this is not true. The closest to the denticular flip is the costal rittberger. There is also a version such as “linden” – an unintentional lutz erroneously executed instead of a flip.

Take-off – three forward-outward-backward-inward. After turning, the free arm and leg are retracted.
Push – an almost straight free leg stretches back behind the supporting leg, which is actively bent at the knee and ankle joints. While hitting the ice with the right foot, twisting the upper body counterclockwise begins. The left leg is the first to break away from the ice and is pulled to the right (let’s say a small swing with the left foot in the direction of movement).
Flying – grouping – hands clenched in fists and pressed to the chest.
Landing – back and forth on the right leg, arms straightened to the side.

Common mistakes:
Runaway.
1. There is no fixation of the links of the body (arms, free leg), immediately before the collision with the jump.
2. Lack or excess of speed. In the first case, the error leads to low altitude and a small forward span, in the second to uncoordination of actions in other phases.
3. Excessive tilt of the hull forward from the vertical axis on the collision arc.
Push.
1. Back-out arc. The most common mistake!
2. A tooth kick of the pushing leg directly under the heel or on the side of the supporting leg (jump under oneself).
3. The rotation of the body and arms does not occur simultaneously at the time of repulsion from the ice.
4. Strong swing movement with the left foot in the direction of rotation with its removal in the direction of rotation.
Flight.
1. Early grouping (repulsion has not yet occurred, and hands are already gathered in a grouping).
2. Insufficient grouping density. The farther the links of the body (arms, left leg) are from the vertical axis (body, right leg), the more difficult it is to twist the required number of revolutions. It is characteristic for multi-turn jumps.
3. Tilt the chassis forward before ungrouping.
Landing.
1. Landing on the whole horse. This leads to additional stress on the ankle, knee and hip joints and tipping over.
2. Excessive tilt of the body forward at the moment the ice touches the tooth, leading to a fall forward.
3. Untimely ungrouping (torsion) at the moment of touching the ice, the shoulders look forward or even to the left.

Inner axel

Inner Axel The jump is performed from the front forward, therefore, like in the classic axel, it does not have an integer number of revolutions.
Take-off – running forward to the left side, the inner arc on the left foot forward – inward with the transition to the right foot forward – inward. The left leg reaches back for the right leg. The left hand is in front, the right one is slightly laid back
Push – pushing back and forth from the arc, a sharp short swing with the right hand in the direction of rotation, twisting the upper body counterclockwise.
Flying – grouping – hands are clenched in fists and pressed to the chest, the left leg is pulled to the right and crossed at the level of the boot. It is also possible as in a jump of the Valley, when the free leg is pressed to the supporting side.
Landing – back and forth on the right leg, arms straightened to the side.

I was asked in the comments the question: what is the “Bobrinsky jump”?

I will answer it with great pleasure. The fact is that I devoted 3 years of my life to working in an excellent team of the Igor Bobrin Ice Miniature Theater. It was thanks to this man that in the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century, unsurpassed numbers appeared, such as “Cowboy”, “Waiter” and others. I am sure that these days you will not have any problems finding these records. Look, you will not regret it! ”

So, Igor Anatolyevich performed this element in his programs. And the essence of the jump is as follows. It is very similar in execution to the internal axel, only rotation occurs in the horizontal plane, i.e. a person makes a revolution in the air, flying head first (very similar to a bullet spinning). This is a very spectacular jump!
